Health Promotion

blood_pressure3People today are very aware of the need to prevent health problems from occurring. Healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle are important and we offer preventative advice aimed at maintaining health. Please ask at reception for further details.

Stop Smoking Clinic

If you would like help and support to stop smoking, please book an appointment with one of our stop smoking advisers.

Cervical Smears

These will be undertaken by your doctor and the practice nurse. A cervical smear programme is in operation and patients are recalled when their test is due. You will be notified routinely of the result of your test by post from the hospital.

Immunisation Clinics

A baby, child and adult immunisation/holiday vaccination clinic is held at the surgery every Tuesday afternoon from 14:00 - 15:30. If you have not received your invite or can not make the appointment allocated, please phone the surgery.
Please report to reception when you arrive.

Tetanus/Diphtheria

We advise up-to-date tetanus/diptheria. Please enquire at reception to ensure adequate cover.

Influenza

We offer flu vaccinations every October. We particularly recommend vaccinations for those at risk including patients with lung disease, asthma or bronchitis, heart disease, kidney disease, diabetes, all patients aged 65 years or over and those with lowered resistance to infection. It is also recommended for residents of nursing homes, elderly people's homes or other long-stay facilities.

Please enquire at reception if you have not received your invite by early October.

All holiday and other injections can be made by separate appointments.

pregnant_23Antenatal Appointments

Antenatal appointments are provided by the doctors or by a district midwife who holds twice weekly clinics at the surgery.

Child Health Surveillance

Routine child health surveillance checks are carried out at six weeks by the doctor (ie. at the same time as the mother's postnatal examination) and 2 1/2 years by the health visitor either at the clinic or at the patient's home.

Family Planning Services

A full range of family planning services is offered by arrangement with your doctor or nurse.

Minor Surgery

Certain minor operations (eg removal of moles and skin lumps, injection of joints and treatment to warts with liquid nitrogen) are performed at the surgery.

Asthma Clinic

We hold a regular asthma clinic to enable us to offer an opportunity to explain more about asthma and its management and monitor its control.

Diabetic Clinic

We hold a regular diabetic clinic to enable us to offer an opportunity for education regarding diabetes, monitor its control and enable early detection of complications.

Patients with heart disease will be invited for an annual review with our practice nurse.

Stroke/TIA Clinic

Patients who have had a stroke will be invited for an annual review with our practice nurse.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease/Emphysema Clinic

Patients with COPD/Emphysema will be invited for an annual review with our practice nurse.

Chronic Kidney Disease

Patients with CKD you will be invited for an annual review with our practice nurse.
